Dual Plate Wafer Check Valves

A dual check valve prevents backflow in piping systems, protecting pumps, compressors, and other equipment from reverse flow damage and contamination. A wafer check valve is a thin, lightweight valve designed to fit between two pipe flanges without its own separate flange, using the bolts of the mating flanges for installation. A dual (dual plate) check valve refers to a single valve body containing two hinged plates that close together to stop backflow. A double check valve typically refers to an assembly of two independent check valves installed in series, commonly used for backflow prevention in potable water systems. The terms describe different valve configurations despite the similar naming.

These valves are commonly available in carbon steel, stainless steel, and brass, depending on the model and intended service. Material selection depends on the application media, pressure rating, and operating environment, with stainless steel typically chosen for corrosive or high-purity applications and carbon steel for general industrial and pipeline use.

Dual plate wafer check valves are typically offered with threaded, flanged, or socket weld end connections, varying by model and application. The wafer design itself is installed between two pipe flanges, so connection type selection should align with existing piping infrastructure and pressure requirements.

These valves are generally manufactured to comply with API and ANSI/ASME pressure and piping standards. Applicable products may carry API Monogram certification, and oil and gas installations may also require adherence to federal and state pipeline safety regulations depending on the application and operating environment.
